Sword & Shield trading

Sword and Shield trades happen through the Y-Comm. Find trainers with Galar exclusives or DLC Pokémon on ApexDex, then trade with a shared Link Code.

How to trade in Sword & Shield

  1. Agree the trade on ApexDex and share a Link Code in the trade chat.
  2. In game, press Y to open the Y-Comm and choose Link Trade.
  3. Both set the same 8-digit Link Code.
  4. Check the Pokémon on offer, then confirm the trade.
  5. Back on ApexDex, both tap We traded.

Good to know

  • Online trades need Nintendo Switch Online; local wireless trades don't.
  • The Isle of Armor and The Crown Tundra species can be traded too.
  • Pokémon that evolve by trading evolve as soon as they arrive.

  • Includes Isle of Armor and Crown Tundra species.

Frequently asked questions

Can Sword and Shield trade with Scarlet and Violet?

Not directly. Move the Pokémon through Pokémon HOME if the species exists in the other game.
