Pokémon GO trading guide
Trading in Pokémon GO has its own rules: you trade in person with friends, it costs Stardust, and the Pokémon's IVs change on the way. Here's everything to check before you meet up.
Requirements
- Trainer level 10 or higher.
- You must be friends in Pokémon GO.
- You must be close to each other (about 100 metres). Events sometimes extend this.
Stardust costs
| Friendship | Already registered | Special Trade (registered) | Special Trade (not registered) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Good Friend | 100 | 20,000 | 1,000,000 |
| Great Friend | 100 | 16,000 | 800,000 |
| Ultra Friend | 100 | 1,600 | 80,000 |
| Best Friend | 100 | 800 | 40,000 |
A normal Pokémon that isn't registered in the receiver's Pokédex costs the same as a registered Special Trade.
Special Trades
A trade is a Special Trade when the Pokémon is shiny, Legendary (including Ultra Beasts), or not yet registered in the receiver's Pokédex. You can make one Special Trade per day.
IVs after trading and Lucky Trades
| Trade | Minimum IV in each stat |
|---|---|
| Good Friend | 1 |
| Great Friend | 2 |
| Ultra Friend | 3 |
| Best Friend | 5 |
| Lucky Trade | 12 |
Lucky Pokémon also cost half the Stardust to power up. Older Pokémon and higher friendship make a Lucky Trade more likely, and Lucky Friends are guaranteed one on their next trade.
Trade evolutions
Pokémon that evolve by trading in the main games, such as Kadabra, Machoke, Graveler and Haunter, evolve for 0 Candy after they've been traded. See all trade evolutions.
